Stories from the Pews
This is a blog of stories about experiences with marriage, family and sexuality. The stories come through the portal below called "Write Your Story." The "demographic info" can be as specific as you like i.e. your age, your gender, your religious affiliation, your name, ..., or none of the these.
1. Demographic Info: Name: Paula Ruddy Title: Unnecessary Pain
A woman I know told me this story with tears. She married a divorced man whose first marriage was never annulled. They lived in a small city where he had a professional practice. They went to the Catholic Church every Sunday, brought up two children there, and never received communion. The profound pain of the woman while telling me this moved me too. What thoughts she must have been having about herself and her marriage? What an unnecessary burden of pain! The Church's doctrine of marriage indissolubility does not manifest a merciful God.
